A Fraction of the Cost of Buying New

If you’ve never heard of Progressive Edge, here’s the short version: we’re a Canadian, hygienist-owned company that re-tips dental hygiene instruments. We take your worn scalers, replace the working tips with surgical-grade steel, and send them back performing like new — for a fraction of the cost of replacing them.

But we hear the same question a lot: why choose Progressive Edge specifically? Here are the four reasons our clients keep coming back.

01 — We’ve Used These Instruments Ourselves

Progressive Edge was founded by registered dental hygienists with over 20 years of clinical experience each. That’s not a marketing detail — it shapes every single decision we make.

We know what it feels like to work with an instrument that’s just a little off. The extra pressure you apply without realizing it. The way a dull tip changes your entire technique. We’ve been there, and we built this service because we couldn’t find anyone doing re-tipping the right way.

When we say our instruments perform like new, we mean it — because we know exactly what new feels like chairside.

02 — Same Process as Brand New. No Shortcuts.

Here’s something most hygienists don’t realize: every dental instrument — whether it just came out of a manufacturer’s box or arrived back from us — is assembled the same way. Three pieces, press-fit together, bonded, and sealed.

Re-tipping doesn’t reinvent anything. It repeats the exact manufacturing process, replacing only the worn working tip with a fresh one made from 440A surgical-grade North American stainless steel. The same alloy used by leading instrument manufacturers.

Every instrument we re-tip is inspected before we start and again after completion. If a handle isn’t in good condition, we won’t re-tip it. If the finished result doesn’t meet our standards, it doesn’t ship. And every instrument we send back is fully Health Canada certified — not because we have to be, but because you deserve that confidence.

“We got our instruments back and all of the hygienists are SO happy!! They are absolutely perfect and we just can’t believe what great quality.” — Lindsay

03 — A Fraction of the Cost of Buying New

New scalers from leading brands aren’t cheap. When you’re equipping a full hygiene practice, replacing instruments adds up fast — and it happens more often than it should, because most offices don’t realize re-tipping is an option.

Re-tipping costs a fraction of what you’d pay for new. You’re keeping a perfectly good handle and shank — the parts that never wear out — and simply renewing the tip. Same performance. Way smarter on the budget.

For practices looking to reduce overhead without reducing quality, it’s one of the easiest switches you can make.

04 — Back in Your Hands in 7–12 Business Days

We know your instruments aren’t decorative. You need them, and you need them back quickly.

Our standard turnaround is 7–12 business days, door to door — that includes shipping both ways. Most of our clients find the process seamless: package up your instruments, send them to us in Calgary, and they’re back before your schedule feels the gap.

We work with dental offices across Canada and have the process dialled in to make it as smooth as possible. Questions along the way? We’re easy to reach, and we actually respond.

“First time order and our office was very impressed with the quality. Turn around time was also fantastic.” — Krissy

Ready to Make the Switch?

Whether you’re a solo hygienist looking to stretch your budget or a practice manager sourcing instruments for a full team, re-tipping with Progressive Edge is a decision you’ll feel the first time you pick up your instruments.

Sharp. Sealed. Back where they belong.
